OUR MISSION STATEMENT
“Our passion for the outdoors shapes our business practices. We prioritise what matters most, such as the environment, our employees, suppliers, wildlife, community, and of course our customers. All are interrelated. Sustainability is not just a series of isolated initiatives but an integrated approach. It's a lifestyle for us. Although we are not perfect, we are striving to improve both our business and the world around us.”
OUR CODE OF CONDUCT
Environmental responsibility
We strive to minimise our environmental impact by implementing sustainable practices in our operations and supply chain. This includes reducing waste, conserving energy and water, and promoting the use of environmentally-friendly products.
social responsibility
We will conduct our business in a way that respects the rights and well-being of all stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and the communities in which we operate.
Diversity
We promote inclusivity and diversity in our workforce, and do not discriminate based on race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, or any other protected characteristic.
Community
We support our community and organisations that align with our values and mission.
LIVING WAGE
We pay a Living Wage. All our employees earn a wage over the standard Swiss Minimum Wage that covers their basic needs, allowing them to live a healthy and fulfilling life. As there is currently no official Swiss National LIVING Wage, we have taken the MINIMUM Wage figure (2022) and increased it by 35%. By paying a Living Wage, we are creating a more stable and productive workplace, and investing in the well-being of our community. We believe that everyone deserves to be paid a fair and living wage, and we are proud to lead the way in the seasonal business industry in making this a reality.
trusted partners
We work with people we believe in and those that subscribe to our ideals and aims.
BUILD A BETTER BUSINESS
We acknowledge our imperfections and don't claim to possess all solutions. However, we believe by working towards a goal, analysing what we do on a daily basis and taking small actions, we can bring about significant change and utilise our business for positive impact.
OUR PROGRAMS
RENT-A-CAN
Our "RENT-A-CAN" program is designed to reduce waste and promote recycling among our guests. A small deposit is included in the price of all drinks sold in our shop, whether they are PET or Aluminium containers. The deposit is refunded to customers when they return the containers to us. If the deposit is unclaimed, it will be donated to a seasonal charity of our choice. And of course, all collected cans and PET bottles are taken to the recycling depot! This system raised just over CHF800 for our designated charity in 2022!
RECYCLING
At Aareschlauchboot we try to reduce the waste that ends up in landfill as much as possible. With special bins for customers and employees, we separate, sort and deliver as much as possible to recycling centres. Of course, we also try to reduce the amount of waste we generate, and this is something we are constantly trying to improve.
Waste collection bags
The Aare is actually very clean and there is not a huge amount of litter in the river compared to many other places in the world. However, we can all do better and if we see something that doesn't belong there, we take it home or throw it in the nearest bin. To encourage this, we provide each boat with a litter bag (recycled of course). Help us keep the river clean!
